privacy
murm is pseudonymous — other users see your handle, not your real name. during the public beta you can join as a guest without a phone number, or sign in with a +977 number via otp.
guest accounts (beta): we do not collect your phone number. your session is tied to tokens on your device. if you log out, your guest handle is not recoverable. guest accounts have lower posting limits and cannot use whispers (dms).
otp accounts: your phone number is used only for login and is never shown publicly. we store it encrypted.
we collect your auto-generated handle, community choice, posts, reactions, comments, and dm messages you send. we use this to run the app, moderate content, and respond to safety reports.
we do not sell your data. we may share information with law enforcement when required by law or when someone is in immediate danger.
you can report content, block users, and contact us at hello@murm.space for account or safety questions.
murm is 18+ only. by using murm you confirm you are at least 18 years old.
